About This Blog

My name is Jack and I think it is fair to say this blog started after my grandfather died when I was 17. I was in desperate need of an emotional outlet and I turned to poetry having no knowledge or prior interest in it whatsoever.

From there poems flowed out of me as my love for writing continued to grow. But I knew I wanted to keep learning and evolving as a person, so I attended and graduated from University of Maryland with a degree in Marketing. My focus at Maryland was learning about entrepreneurship and the different strategies that businesses take to become players in an always changing global marketplace.

I went on to work for a few different startups in the e-commerce and advertising fields, one of which I co-founded, and have had the luck of working in New York, DC, London, Monaco and Dubai. After having worked for 5+ years seeing the ins and outs of numerous small businesses and experiencing everything from the top to the bottom of the business life cycle, I wanted to share some of the insights I have gained.

You will largely find content about small business strategies on this blog with topics ranging from Search Engine Optimization and Copywriting to User Experience and User Interface. That isn't all I want to talk about though so sometimes I'll pepper in some original poetry or a music review, maybe a cooking recipe or a funny anecdote. I'm not entirely sure what I want this to be... but I am glad you're along for the ride or stopped by to check it out.
